More memory. More room to experiment.
ShedStack now has 32 GB of tested RAM. The next question is what the services actually need.
## The hardware step
The server's memory upgrade is installed, and the memory test passed. Combined with the eight-core processor, 32 GB gives the machine more room for its growing list of jobs.
## The useful next question
Having headroom is good. Knowing where it goes is better. The next notes will look at the services, their memory demands, and when the GPU can genuinely help.
An idle graphics card does not automatically mean something is broken: a service needs a compatible workload and the right configuration. Measurements should lead the next change.
## What I'd like to record
- Normal memory use with the core services running
- How usage changes during a real workload
- Which jobs use the GPU and which remain on the CPU
- Whether the extra capacity improves the everyday experience
